Horse Barns, Riding Arenas and Canine Shelters

Pole barns serve many purposes from sheltering horses, dogs and herding animals to providing space to exercise and train them. Whether you are a horse owner looking to build a new barn or a dog trainer needing indoor instruction space, we have experience building for both purposes. A typical horse barn is designed with two or three stalls, a turnout, and a tack room for saddles and grooming supplies. You can opt to include a wash stall with a water hookup. When deciding what size of barn you want, consider the number and size of the animals you want to shelter as well as the kinds of equipment to be stored inside.

A training facility’s design depends upon its intended use. A post frame riding arena will typically span 60 to 80 feet in width and may include special features such as stirrup guards and wall design to prevent cribbing. Stalls, wash bays and a tack room are often placed around the perimeter or at one end. A canine center may contain kenneling spaces as well as versatile open space for agility training. Professionals who breed, raise and train dogs have improved their structure’s air flow with a decorative cupola housing a circulation fan.

We’ve even designed and built chicken door ramps for small livestock to share space in larger structures when winter arrives.

We offer a variety of color and upgrade options to customize your barn to meet your needs and blend with your existing structures. Farm and Home Structures has over 30 years of experience with pre-engineered steel and post frame buildings. Let's work together to build a barn or livestock shelter that meets your needs.
